New Business in Sungju: Tree

October 2022

Junho started a new business in Sungju from 2022. Newly started business targets very different product from the previous ones, trees. His tree business includes variety of evergreen trees such as Blue Arrow, aiming on new market than Sungju have been working on. The first set of trees planted at 6,600m2-land and started growing aimed to be on sale in 2024.

Growing Family Business

Sungju had been recognized as the 1st generation farm for succulent plants in Korea. Junho Bae, the first child of the family, joined Sunju since 2013 after finishing his study at Korea National University of Agriculture and Fisheries. Junho had been actively working on import business of Sunju. Sunju is constantly working to introduce more variety of products to the market.

Wide Collections Established from Global Trading

In 2013, Junho Bae joined the family business. After joining, he was trained to look for new variety of products that are not yet provided in Korea. In results, Sungju provides more than 100 different varieties of succulent and cactus.

Success Story: City Life to Farmer's Life

May 2013

Sungju Plant was interviewed by a magazine, Sae-Nongsa, to introduce how Sunju could have been able to settle at Yongin as agricultural business. Hyokyung and Mijin lived in Seoul almost entire of their lives. Starting a new life in strange place without any acquaintance was not easy but they realized growing together with the local community was important. They put efforts to synergize their growth with the community and the result was even more helpful on expand of business locally and nationally.

Woman Agricultural CEO

Our cofounder and CEO, Mijin Kim, had been leading Women Farmers Federation (WFF) of Yongin City as a leader for 7th and 8th election. The importance and role of women in agriculture are getting more highlighted recently. Mijin had been at the frontline to enlighten the society where and how women are contributing in agricultural business by participating the regional WFF.

Sungju started as a small weekend farm with small variety of cactus. 18 years later, Sungju is recognized as a leading agricultural nursery nationally. Increase of interests on small succulents and cactus in the market, Sungju also grew together with the market.

Leading Agricultural Entrepreneur

Founder and CEO, Hyokyung Bae, was nominated as the Leading Agricultural Entrepreneur by Kyunggi Province. Every year, the province nominates maximum 10 agricultural entrepreneurs.  Nominated CEOs are agricultural professional with minimum 10 years of experience in the field who owns transferable knowledge or techniques in agriculture. Sungju was acknowledged of strong product portfolio and unique product distribution channels established through years of experience.
